Default Winter Storage Question

I am getting ready to put the bike up for it's winter nap. (yea, I know I am a wimp)
I don't have the money for a lift...it all went into the bike
What is the issue with the tires? Are they not supposed to be on the concrete garage floor because of the moisture, or because they stay in the same spot on the tire????
I can put a plastic tarp under the bike to keep the tires away from the concrete and the cold floor
and I could move the bike once a week so the tires are not on the same spot.
It's a 2005 DynaSuperGlideCustom...with new Metzler tires.
Also , should I inflate the tires to max tire pressure on the sidewalls?
I already have Stabil in the gas tank and the battery tender on the battery...washed and waxed.

thanks
The one eye guy

Sounds like you have it pretty well covered. The plastic is more of a vapor barrier to keep the moisture and chemicals in the concrete, from attacking your bike. Plus to keep the tirs from being in direct contact. Moving the bike will help stop flat spots on your newMetzler's. And yes, pump 'em up. Some will even put a electric blanket over theirs, to help with condensation or a light bulb/trouble light under the bike, if you cover it. If you can help it, do not start it up and let it run for a few minutes! If you can't actually ride it enough to get all parts, driveline not just engine,up to operating temperature, just let it sit.It may be difficult, I know it is for me. But it is best for the bike.

I drape a parachute down from my garageceiling over both of my bikes to keep dust off them. Then I place a small fan inside to keep the air circulating and condensation from forming. This setup is a LOT cheaper than the $$$ Harley wants for thier "bubble".

What is fogging oil and how do you spray it in? I have heard of people on ounce of engine oil inside to coat the cylinder walls during first start (makes a smokey scene).

foging oil comes in a spray con with a hose on it so you can spray it in the cylinders . it is made just for that purpose so in the spring there is lube there when you start it up. you can get it at any marine dealer. dont know why the dealers dont carry it. ive used it on my boats for years and also on my bike. its good stuff
