Saw one of the 08s with the new electronic throttle. Great idea. I never understood wht MoCo put unnecessary push/pull throttle cables on a fuel injected bike when they are trying to suck every penny of cost out of production. I like the clean look and would mod my Wide Glide if it were available and reasonably priced.
So hooray for the new throttle-by-wire configuration. But BOO on the external wiring zip-tied along the handlebar. One step forward, two steps back.
I have heard bad things about this throttle-by-wire configuration. The throttle response is not that great and you can not change out your bars. I hope that down the road you will be able to change the bars and the response is better. When I get my Street Glide it will be an 07 or earlier with out the throttle-by-wire configuration.
almost all cars have this type of throttle setup now and it usually works great.
never tried it on a bike but on a car there is a hesitation but you quickly get used to it and soon dont even pay attention to it
agreed on the handlebar wiring
looks like poop
just have a hard time undestanding why they had to fix something that really was not broken and really gave very little to no trouble over the years I have been riding with the regular throttle for over 50 years and maybe once had one break..
I don't like the feel or the lag in throttle response. Also I heard about them acting up and going full throttle by themselves. Dont't like that thought much. Also it is true that you can't change out the handle bars due to having to extend the wires and the resistance is to much.
