Default Dyna Jack Mod

Got tired of messing with wood and using my "third" hand to jack the Scoot. Had some "extree" square tubing and fired up the MIG.
Works great - no muss no fuss.
This started life as the Northern Cheap - on sale. Gotta believe this could be an option for the jack makers.

Gotta say, I have no clue what you did or are even talking about. The pics look like the lift I got off ebay for 80 bucks. Just rolled it under, and lifted her up.

Guys - I guess I shouldn't have painted it to make it look like a normal jack. Look closely and you'll see the welds and added square tubing to widen it. That's an 18" ruler on it for scale. I also extended it 3 inches so it is easier to slide under the bike.
The stock jack is 8"wide between lift bars. The Dyna has a 9-1/2" "skid" plate / bar on the right side of the frame rail to protect the trans. To make it work (jack the bike) you have to either buy a jack kit from MoCo or use wood on the left frame rail.
I widened my jack to 14"so no wood / kit.
Navy - what kind of jack do you have that you don't need spacers??
Would've saved me some welding...

I still do not see the *square* tubing you speak of Don.

Mud - yer killin' me
Take a look at the standard two square tubes the come off the jack - from the pump. There is a 3" section of 1-1/2" square tube welded to the outside of it and an arm welded to it - to the lift rails. That is how wide I made the jack. Also look at the bottom rails. See how they are now to the outside of the angle iron?? (instead of between them)
See the tabs I welded to them??
Measure a standard jack - inside to inside rail. Eight inch spread right?? Mine is 14" wide to clear the trans rail.
Damn - did I do so good it looks like a normal jack?? Or is this a optical seclusion??
BTW - Like your work - fender, tank is killer. I'm doing a similar tank (another efi with sealed in pump) but instead of hammering it, I'm gonna weld 1+" sides to it, like the old Triumph Bonnevile - like yours but adding capacity...

I knew I should have taken pics BEFORE I painted it...

NOW I do believe I SEE.

Thanx for the compliments,
and be sure to post up pix of your tank project.

Yeah I do remember the old Bonnevilles
bought my first new one in 1967
In 78 I bought a new 750 Twin.

yea - i see it. i thought i was doing something stupid but i had the same problem. i like the jack. if you can make it adjustable it would be marketable as hell.

good luck
