Default Fuel-Injected - Higher idle?

Anyone with a newer model fuel-injected bike feel like their bike idles higher than it should. Maybe I'm just being picky, but it just seems to be idling too high. I have the SE Stage 1, V&H BigShots and a Fuelpak.

Mine idles noticably higher after my 1K service. Took it back and they re-adjusted the throttle cables. All was well.

Could be the map you are running on your Fuelpak. If you call V&H and describe your issue, they can/will give you some different values to try and input to a mode or two that may cure it. Like changing a setting of 16 to 15 in a particular mode.

They are in California, so wait til noon east coast time to call.

I had a high idle until I had my bike Dyno'd. I had brought it back to the dealer a couple of times, but they never got it squared away.

High Idle can also be a sign of a leaner condition.... Whats the A/F ratio at Idle ? Look for 13.2/13.5 Also when you say you have the Stage 1, that means you got the Factory Stage 1 Down load.. Stage 1 is a Flash download... Make sure your running the right map from V & H's with the stage 1 down load....Pipes and A/Care just additional parts to go along with the Stage 1 download.. High Flow Exhaust, or High Flow A/C..

Hey Skip - Good call! By the way, your expertise and tech knowledge is needed down in the somewhat related "ThunderMax, PC III-USB, SERT" thread. Just a heads up - has to do with questions on SERT and air/fuel ratios. Was beyond me, apparently !!! So much is these days! LOL! The older I get the less I know!

I have the SE Stage 1 A/C, and also the download from the dealer. I found the proper download from V&H. I did recently remove my air cleaner cover to run it open, so I'm sure that leans it out a bit. I'll call V&H on Wednesday when I get back to town. I'm sure I just need to change a setting or two. Thanks for all the help.

What's the lowest safe idle setting, 800rpm? I'm gonna have to have mine dyno tuned again and I want to have the idle adjusted while they're at it. Or hopefully this time I'll actually get a copy of the friggin' map so I can do it myself.

950 -1000 is Ok, I'd leave it at 1000 for oiling the top end..
