If the bike was purchased new it had a 2 year factory warranty. Sounds like you purchased a 3 year extended warranty - which is in essence a 1 year beyond the factory warranty. They do this as the extended warranties often cover things the factory warranty does not cover. Towing, if traveling some cover motel if you break down away from home. And some even cover rental bike while yours is down. This coverage applies from day one. Car warranties are the same exact way. So when a 3 year extended warranty is purchased it is for three years from purchase date - same as a car.
Ok I got my Bike 10/20/04Thefactory warranty should have expired 10/20/06 and my extended warranty for three more years is supposed to kick in 10/20/06 to 10/20/09 ?? I think I got it now.. I think thay are trying to pull somthing......
Hmmm.... perhaps not - gotta read the fine print. When I was in doing the deal on my bike with the sales guy, and he wanted to sign me up for the 3 or 5 year extended warranty, I read all the paper work, then asked him how long the TOTAL length of the warranty was, and he admitted that the three year was in fact only adding ONE year to the factory warranty, and the five year only added THREE years. I declined, thank you very much!

this is correct........Not that I would, but ....If someone was going to buy an extended warranty......they should not purchase it until..right before the factory warranty is up...........In fact my warranty is now over and I still get a phone call a week from somebody thats trying to sell me one..............................The day I brought my bike home I drilled the baffles.........Took the bike in a couple weeks later for its 1k.....they told me, the drilled baffles voided my warranty.........this turned into a fight......He supposedly got in his computer and told me my warranty was voided for good........this turned into a bigger fight.......which then turned ugly.......... . ..needless to say, Ive never been back.....Ive just recently gone to another dealer...and found out that there was no way this could have been done....in fact My warranty was good the whole time......Im sure some of what he is saying is smoke.....but after a few days....he told me that dealers would do this or say this..so the customer would think they had no warranty bring the bike in to have work done.....and the dealer gets double paid. Just like in this case, the guys got an extended warranty from day one, along with a factory warranty.......guy takes bike in for warranty...dealer gets double paid.......plus they got the commission when they sold you extended warranty(thats why they sold it to ya).........................................In other words............You got took.....................sorry..[&:].................................................. ...........................

Burnt exhaust, maybe . Burnt intake not likely. If anything it could be stuck open slightly from stem rusting. Serious lack of use may have cause it with the intake valve stem exposed to humid air for long period. I take it, it blows back through the carb. Pull the intake manifold and coat the stem with Marvel mystery oil and get it freed up if the warranty is a no go. Ron
I have a 2005 Dyna Super Glide with 3500 miles on it. I purchased it in October of 2004. The other day I had to bring it to Stone Mountain Harley to have the problem assessed. To my surprise they told me I have a burned intake vavle and that my extended wzrranty ran out 21 days ago. It will cost me $485.00 for it to be repaired.
Does anyone know/known of this happening to anyone else? They told me that this is a rare occurance at 3,500 miles.
They could not give me a reason as to what caused it. I guess I am upset because I thought getting a 3 year extended warranty on top of my two year factory warranty was sufficient. I can find no information stating that I had a factory warranty. Does Harley even offer that??
Can anyone help me with my situation?
Has the bike been modified in ANY way? This is very rare and the service manager is your best bet. Ask about h-d policy review board. PM me for more details
