I know this subject has been done to death, but here goes again.
I took a couple hundred mile ride a few days ago with a buddy and my normally comfortable seat wasn't nearly as comfortable towards the end - stock HD "pillow" seat.
I've seen comments about the "best" seat on this forum, but I need some straight honest answers. If you spend a couple hundred bucks (or more) for a seat you want it to be the most comfortable. I've been guilty in the past of buying something that failed to meet my expectation, but still hesitated to bad mouth it because I was out the money. Let me have your honest opinions - what's the best seat for an '04 WG?
I have a Corbin Classic Solo, it was not cheap. Some say it is hard, I did not think so and after 1,500 miles I can tell you that you don't even sense you are sitting. I have nothing else to judge it against, but I think I could ride 12 hours a day and be very comfortable. It is perfect for me. 6 ' and 190 lbs..
I hated the stock seat on my '06 Wide Glide...so I ended up picking up the HD (non stock) Pillow look seat...(correct me if I'm wrong..but was the pillow seat at one time the stock seat on a Wide Glide?). It's a major improvement over the stock seat. But..I will say..it's definitely not as comfy as the Mustang seat I had on my '01 Yamaha. At the time I bought the pillow seat, Mustang didn't have seats available for '06 harleys. But they definitely have a number of different seats for '04. And I can promise you...if you can find a seat through them that fits your style, they're all really really comfortable. I swear by them and may end up picking one up eventually anyway. It just stinks because I paid a couple hundred for the pillow seat and it's not as good as I had hoped...but it does look cool
Good luck man...check mustangseats.com
I have the pillow seat on my '04. It's fine for short hops, but my tired ol' rear needs something better for the long hauls. I've looked at the HD Sundowner, but will probably go with a Mustang.

Yes mustang touring is the one for your butt, read the write ups on their website!!! i have just brought the HD sundowner for my 06 WG but for pillion comfort ,and because the mustangs are not out until june , and le pera etc also are not out .
But you wont have no problems for the 04.
The main reason to change the seat normally on a dyna is for THE pillion comfort ,as the rider part is fairly generous and comfortable at 14 inch. The difference for the pillion is from 8 inches wide stock to 12 inch on the sundowner over stock with more padding ,THE RIDER PART GAINS AN INCH .
Sometimes people would be better off with a more touring version harley in the first place for high mileage use
I ordered a Arlen Ness Signature, Danny Gray seat from Arlen Ness. They said it would fit a 2004 and up WG. Well, I got the seat, I REALLY like the seat, but it didn't fit the 06. So, I had to send it back today. They said it will be awhile before the 06's come out. But I like this seat so much, I will stick with the crappy stock seat until they do.
