A word of advice to the do-it-yourselfers: Take the dash to a machine shop and let them drill the hole for you. I used a hand drill and 2" bit and it went slightly off center when the pilot bit broke through the dash.
I went ahead and finished the job at the time but swore that if anyone ever notices the ignition switch is the slightest bit off center that I would buy a new console and have someone with a drill press do it the right way. To date, no one can tell it's off center just looking at it other than me.
The single greatest mod ever, and thanks eastern performance for the $24 switch, lot cheaper than the $185 the HD dealer wanted.
First remove the connector and then tape the ends of theignitionwirestogetherbefore attempting to fish the ignition wire harness up through the frame neck. Heck of a lot easier than off thanon.
If you mount a plate to hold the newswitchusing gas tank bulkhead screws, replace the original seals with new ones to guarantee no leaks. Take an old one to the dealer with you because unless you have a good parts guythey probably will have no idea what you are asking them for.
Agree w/ Sniper. If you don't have a drill press, have a shop drill the hole in the console.
I know I'm jumping in here on the end but I have a question. Do you remove the old switch in the neck or leave it there so there is not an empty hole sitting there?
I also agree, that neck switch is a pain in the ****!!
I left it in there to use as a fork lock. I just peeled the thin piece of tin off of the top that says acc/on/etc and now it just looks like a fork lock. If you wanted to you could weld it in.

That is up to you. Most folks leave the switch for the fork lock (like the WideGlide).
