Only lifted mine 1 5/8" I like it just fine.1 5/8" was all I could get out of the stock fuel line at the time.

I had a 3" lift on mine shortly after I picked it up from the dealer. It broke and I decided to try Jackyl's 2" system. I prefer the 2" over the 3" and Jackyl makes a fine product.

What do I like about the lift itself? (Pros)

> Gives the feeling of sitting in, rather than on the bike
> Ease of cleaning top ofmotor (not that I do this much)
> Gives a bit more seperation between motor and frame

Cons

> If you use the fuel gauge (I don't) you won't get an accurate reading
> If you run drag bars like mine, your signals may occationally contact the tank (yeah, I'll move them someday).

Let me know what size you went with, how you like it,

any beofre and after pics, etc...

Give me the scoop to help me make the decision.
dMan, here's before and after on the MudGlide
with inch and a quarter troll lift.

And, on the mudSickle I cut the brackets off
and rewelded at 2 1/2".
If ya go that high ya really need to bend
the crossover tubes down a little.

DWGMan, I got the 2" from Jackyl and I love the look it gives my bike. Here is a before and after.

Before

After

Anything larger than a 2" might require the replacement of the crossover hose. I didn't need to with the 2".

HOpe this helps.

this subject comes up every now and then, jackyl seems to make a fine product, but in my humble opion it makes the bikes look like a yamaha virago, i think it looks ok on a bobber, but anything else (naw) but i`m sure alot of people woulden`t like what i have done with my bike, you have to do what pleases you, if you need our opion don`t do it just shows you are not sold 100% on the look, go yamaha

I'm reserving my vote until after I see my bike. So far, I like a lot of the bikes I've seen pix of here but I haven't seen a FXDC like mine with one yet. I'm a little concerned at how it may look with the big console sticking up so high. But, I ordered a 2"er from jackyl. For the price, I'm willing to give it a try and if I'm not happy, I'll take it off and give it to a friend or resell it. As for the fuel and gas gauge, jackyl told me it shouldn't make much of a difference but I don't really care if it does. My fuel gauge has never been right. I can fill my tank to the rim and it never shows completely full and the light has always come on when I still have at least 2 gallons left. After 6500 miles, I think I've only gotten more than 3 gallons in my 5 gallon tank on a fillup 3 times and even then it was barely over 3 gallons.

What are the reasons to install a tank lift, anything functional? More cooling to the engine?

What is involved with the installation?
