Don't feel like the Lone Stranger. Here in West Virginia I've got the same thing. Fire crackers, M80s, Hell, half sticks of dymamite for all I know, started going off about 15 minutes before the ball dropped. Then the firehouse siren (the call for the volunteer firefighters for all you urbanites) started screaming and all the engines hit their sirens and air horns.
Now it's all quiet again. Soooo.....
