Dyna Handlebar 101
2007 Dyna Superglide. Curious to hear what options are out there for adding a couple inches of rise and decreasing the reach on a set of stock handlebars. At this point, budget is a factor. I would like to provide some additional comfort without spending a bucket-load of doe.
I suppose my question is: Can you add a riser without switching out your throttle, brake, and clutch cables? Harley Davidson says no (of course, more money for them). I don't need much on the rise or the reach. Only a couple of inches both ways. It seems feasible to add a riser an keep the stock clutch and throttle cables. I can see where you may have to change out the brake cable.
Can anyone help out? Thanks.

Last night I installed 5.5" risers and 32" drag bars on my 07 superglide custom and the only thing that I had to do was carefully straighten the brake line to follow the contour of the bars. The clutch cable was slightly long and very stiff so I ran it up over the bars and down behind them. Just black ziptied the wires to the clutch cables and brake line. Looks nice. Sorry no photo.
unless HD has changed what they are doing, another thing that really chaps my hide with their bars is for the thickness upgrades... on HD bars, if you go with fatter tubing, you have to buy all new mounting hardware, and from what I can tell new hand controls as well.
I like the WO products because the bars step down to stock diameter at the mount point and where the hand controls go... so you can use all your stock hardware if so desired.
