I have an 05 superglide custom and I look at it as the single best purchase I have ever made in my life!
I will admit that the Road King will be my next ride as it will serve my purposes a bit better.
I did not find the softail model (night train, standard, custom) to be all that comfortable for my long legs FWIW.
If your a taller sort the Dyna will be more for you.
You can get foward controls as standard with no upcharge on the BOB.
The superglide and low are probably more comfortable for two up with their stock seat vs the Bob.
The superglide and low will look better if you choose to add a windshield and/ or saddlebags.

I had a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE as my first bike. I really wanted the Night Train but ended up getting rid of the ACE and getting an 06 Super Glide. I love it. I am pretty tall and the SG is very comfortable for me. I am very happy with it. I have not tried any of the others so I can't compare them to the Super Glide.

We're under a couple of feet of snow here, too. Was down in Palm Springs last month and saw the Fat Bob in the dealers showroom....awsome looking bike; very contemporary styling; made the rest of the bikes look dated. Would be my choice if I were replacing my bike (FXDXT). The 96 is just a top-end away from being a 103.....a needed improvement if you value performance. Do you have the active exhaust systems on all the bikes there?

Hi Swede and welcome to the forum from N,Ireland.
I have beent riding Jap bikes for 30 years,i have recently bought my first Harley (2007 Dyna Superglide Custom)im not sure how the rest of the Dynas ride, but the Superglide is near to perfect, its has enough power for me, the handling is excellent and i find it really smooth once i have started to move, all the other bikes ive ever owned i liked them or i wouldnt have bought them, but the Superglide is more than a like as i love the bike, plus you can make it look so different than other Superglides with all the extras that you can buy.
Ive owned a lot of fast and powerful bikes in my days (Haybusa was one ) and i still think the Superglides feels powerful with the Torq.
I also own a Triumph Trident 1976 T160

Hello all Dyna owners.

I´m a swedishguy who is going to buy my first Harley after many years with japanese bikes and also a 55 Triumph.

I´m not sure yet what Harley i will buy so i like to hear advisesfrom you Dyna-owners about your experienses of the bikes i choose between.

These are the Night Train (know it´s not a Dyna ), Dyna Super Glide, Dyna Lowrider or the one i think i prefer most, the Fat Bob.

So please tell me about your opinions about these bikes.

And for the record, i read in another thread about your opinion about the prices on the Fat Bob in South Africa. Here in Sweden the price for a Fat Bob is in USD about 27.200, with alarm and in vivid black

Hi swede, welcome aboard from Barcelona, spain

If you have doubts between the superglide custom and the fatbob, I suggest you to think on the differences:

- Tires on the Bob (wider and exclusive)
- Double brake on the front wheel of the Bob (I don't know if any FatBob owner has compared the break power with the other dynas)
- The double light on the Bob vs the single light on the FXDC.
- Are you high? I'm 6' (2 meters) and have an FXDC, i had to order forward controls when buying it because i knew mids were not going to be confortable for me.

If it helps, I bought my fxdc in may, there was no fat bob. I love it, and I'm happy with it, but when I saw the fat bob, with the scape, and the forward controls, I wondered why the hell I didn't wait 6 months more. I love the looks of both, but the FatBob is a not so classic dyna, and thus makes it special.

good luck with your choice!

Thanx again for your answers, feels good to get your advises and experienses.

Sharkey, i'm not really sure about the active exhaust here in Sweden. But howeveri'm going to change exhaust system and airfilter at once when i buy my bike.

Rounder, just the information i like to hear

Wolfydude, i guess i will feel the same as you when my Gixxer is a memory and i'm riding my harley

Warper, the questian about the dubble brakes and the brakepower is a good questian, i'm pretty curios about that to.
I'm 185 cm and will have forward controls even if i buy a Super Glide. Before i was sure that mid controls was my choice but after sitting on the Bob i changed that.

And in my headwar about my choice i guess that finally the Fat Bob will win but just now it's still a war

Hi Swede. I live in a cold part of America and understand your problem. I had a 2005 Sportster which I just traded for a 2008 Super Glide Custom in two tone black and pacific blue. This is the bike I've always wanted. The good news is that HD actually reduced the price on this bike for 2008. It has virtually all the chrome of the Lowrider, other then the tachometer, and is available for much less money. I put the progressive lowering shocks on it and the seat height is the same as the lowrider. I had to store it for the Winter soon after I got it but I put about 100 cold miles on it first. It is very smooth and well balanced. It is powerful but doesn't feel like its trying to run away from you. Like you, I could not do much of a test ride. I rode it around the dealer's lot a couple times and knew it was right for me (5 feet 10 inches-185 pounds). The weight, power, manuverability and comfort make this an ideal bike for shortruns or long trips. I can't imagine wanting another bike. Good luck.

I can't imagine what you must be going through to get your bike then have to store it after only 100 miles. That would drive me batty!

Rounder, you are absolutely right. It's driving me crazy. I'm often in the garage admiring it. I've waxed it twice. Come on Spring.
