I have a friend who has installed the sliders from a V-Rod and has thus managed to install twin discs and Brembo-HD front callipers.
My question is, can you install a complete front end from a VRSCAW (V-Rod), including wheel, tire, mudguardand all????
Both Dyna and V-Rod have 19" wheels, but the Dyna has a 100/90-19 tire and the V-rod a 120/70 ZR-19.
I would like to buy a complete set (forks, sliders, wheel, tire, discs, callipers ASO)if the swap is more or less bolt-on. I know both bikes have 49 mm dia. forks.
I'm looking for braking power.
One more thing, does HD or anyone make the Road Winder wheels for the V-Rod?
You could also look for a right side lower or it ya have to the whole right side fork for a Fat Bob, thats what I am planning on doing.
Let us know if the Fat Bob slider works. I read in one of the forums that the Fat Bobs and Wide Glides have the caliper mounting tabs spaced in (closer to the wheel) than the other Dyna models. I eyeballed a few at a dealer and it does look like they are slighty off center, where the others are on center.
I'm waiting for a set of V-rod sliders I got on eBay. I need to get the other components as well, butI'll do a write up when I make the swap.
Your friend posted here about this once before. He said a mechanic did the work, so he couldn't give the details of what was involved. Others have said that the Brembos won't work with laced wheels, but he certainly made them work. I think I'm just going to get some FL takeoff calipers for cost reasons, but I'd like to upgrade to Brembos if I can find a good deal.
As for your conversion, I would think that the fork tubes and sliderswill fit in the Dyna trees. I don't know what the center to center measurements are, though. That would affect the wheel spacing and fender fitment. I also don't know how long the V-rod fork tubes are, but I'm sure they are shorter than your dyna.
