I knew I wanted a Dyna, but I also knew I was going to be doing a lot of mods to "make it mine". I figured, why pay the extra money for the WG when I was going to be putting my own stuff on anyway. I'm not particularly fond of the bobtail fender on the WG either.
I bought mine because of all the bikes I tried, the FXDC fit me the best (I can reachthe ground with my feet flat on the ground) and I really like the look of the bike. After riding mine, I KNOW I made the right choice! I love my bike!
In my humble opinion the Super Glide Custom is Harley's
biggest bang for the buck. It's relatively light, thus better
gas mileage, handling and quickness. But yet it can be set-up
to ride around town or on the road.
Not to mention... it's a great looking bike. I get women looking
at me or the bike (not sure which one) all the time. It's hot...
I almost bought a Cobalt Blue SGC... sweet lookin' bike.
If the cost difference between the SGC and WG are of any concern, don't for one second think you're getting something inferior if you get the SGC. I considered the cost difference myself -- I'm not a rich guy.
What pushed me towards the WG was fit and styling differences that were more to my liking. Regardless of what some may say, there really is a bit more different between the two than a little bling.
Prioritize what is important to you, and make a decision that serves your best interests.
I almost bought a new WG. I liked the style and the ride was good too. Bike was similar to the Softail Custom. But after riding the FAT BOB, I knew that it was for me. And I like the Bobtail fender.
Riding the bikes made all the difference in my recent experiences.
