...when I ordered my 07 back in Nov '06 there were very few in the UK, so the rareity of it was nice as well.
That's true. Honestly, I still see very few customs running around. I've had mine since Nov '06 as well and I think I've seen a total of 5 other than mine. 2 were at a recent dealer event, 1 at OBX bike week, and the other 2 at Myrtle Beach fall rally. Compare that to how many WG's, Softails, and cookie cutter baggers you see that look just alike.

They are just so easy to make unique and "your own" compared to some others. The 2 I saw at the dealer event were completely different than mine yet the same color. But put them side by side and you'd have to compare tank badges to know they were all the same bike. One had apes with fringe hanging from the grips and the other was outfitted for touring, and then there was mine (see below).

Personally, I like the black engine. I have the Street bob, so the primary cover, cam cover, trans cover and almost everything else is black. The Low Rider also has a black engine, but the covers are all chrome. The Low Rider and Street Bob also share the lowest ride height of the Dyna models. Some people like the slightly more raked out front end of the Wide Glide. I do, but didn't care for the rest of the bike. I've heard some say that the wideness of the front end of the Wide Glide makes it less stable, but that is for you to decide. The Street Bob and Wide Glide both have mini-ape handle bars. As far as bang for the buck-if you want a bike with chrome- the Super Glide Custom is the way to go. I just didn't like the silver engine(with the chrome covers). Aside from colors, chrome and ride heights, they are all essentially the same bike. You just have to decide what you want in the looks department. Get a model brochure from the dealership or go online to compare models. I like the big brochure better because you don't have to flip back and forth on web pages. Make sure you get what you want the first time.

I'm built low to the ground, so fit was the selling factor for me + I believe it is the best looking bike that Harley makes. Buying decision became a no brainer and I have yet to have a machanical issue of any kind. I'm a happy camper on all fronts.

WOW! This is a supportive group here and thanks for all the comments! Even honest comments from non Super Glide Custom owners -Awesome!! Yes, some comments made I didn't even think of and are very helpful. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to the rental. I did compare Dynas on the main Harley website, and thats really why I posted about the Super Custom - I seem to like it the most and it happens to be $3 cheaper - not a long front end, shorter battery cover and a few other non major things. Don't get me wrong, the other models are nice too. The Super Custom stood out a little more to me but I'm pretty new to all this. The money difference is nice but really doesn't matter to much. I'll presonally check the Dynas out, but looks wise I do like Super Custom. I do like that 105 Anniversary model two tone. It's also good to read those who own them have a good quality and reliable bike with no trouble - that's a big positive! I assume the Harley dealers don't consider going below MSRP - Not like the car dealers?

Thanks again guys!!

I could have bought any bike on the floor that day, but I had already spent hours on the H-D site looking back and forth and decided on the FXDCI because I knew ahead of time that I was going to do a LOT of mods to it. I wanted the basic "look good - feel good - fit me" so that I could make it just for me.

I had decided on the Dyna family because it s the "hot-rod" of the Harley line.

After 3 years (next March) I still haven't finished. Some here, say we allwill never finish.

But, I can sit down and look at mine - or I can go to any bike function -,and there will not be any other scoot that even comes close to looking like mine, because it is personalized for me, by me.

Last year, the 07 was only about 2K cheaper. Yep, they went down on the price in 08 for essentially the same bike as the previous year. Pissed me off but I have to admit it makes it the best value in the 08 lineup in my opinion.

As far as MSRP, traditionally over the past couple of decades, you are right- it was MSRP or even more. They are feeling the sting of a market slowdown right now though so who knows what they will do. We had a guy here recently that bought a fatbob (hot selling bike) from a dealer that was offering $2K gift cards for buying a bike. He got them to let him use the gift card on the bike itself so he basically got it with a $2K discount. It will vary greatly from dealer to dealer for a while before they all realize they are going to have to bend to stay alive. Expect to pay about MSRP at most dealers still but watch out forthe ones that add on a bunch of BS like setup fees and doc fees. There are dealers that don't do that. I paid MSRP + tax + title + tags for mine and that was it.

I rode a deuce, the rake looks very close to the WG. I have a plain old super glide I think it rides and handles better. If you need forward comtrols you can put them on .

Story Time with Eagle -

I used to own a 04 Softail Std. Shattered my right hand (Home accident LOL), sold it. Regretted it for couple of years.

I have had osteo arthritis, and the weight of the Softie tore up my knees and hip. So I wanted a lighter bike, and HAD to have a Harley. Bought a 07 Sporty 1200c. Beefed up the suspension, Muistang wide seat, etc, and loved the bike....but I loved RIDING, and the bike was just a vehicle.

27th of December, went into my Stealer with a couple hunnerd Harley Bucks from wife (xmas). We walk in and my salesman is there, Wife says show him what he wants and he can buy it. I was floored! I was like....Oh BOY!

Lined up 5 bikes: Softie Custom,07 Police turn in, Dyna FatBob, Dyna WG and Dyna SGC.

Police bike was too wide, almost threw out hip just sitting it. Loved the front end of the Fat Bob, but just didn't sit the bike well....could not place why. WG, just didn't like the feel.

So I went down to Softie Custom and SGC. Side by side, literally, exact same Pacific Blue on Vivid Black colors. Looked at them, and they both were singing to me. What a fine duet they made!

Cost difference was not a factor at this time....the sales manager promised me a payment of no more than 8 bucks a month more on the Softie.

In the end....The Dyna just sang a better toon for me. It was not a matter of money (Not that I am wealthy, far from it), it was a matter of "fit" and this bike FITS me. I love it. She is a perfect match for me and I intend to show my love with all the bling I can afford....over time of course..

Thats my Harley Testimony and I stand behind it...
