Default Transmission Seepage

Experts & Smart Ones,

Is this a problem or just part of doing business? Bike has 500 miles on it.

Thanks,
Rick

I have about 6700 km on mine without any leaks, seepage, etc. I think a few small leaks would have been accepted a few years ago but with modern machining, quality control, etc. you shouldn't normally experience a problem like yours. I'd suggest you take it to the dealer.

I have the same thing on mine with about 9500 miles. I am treating it as business as usual. Thing runs so good, I hate the thought of taking it to the dealer to have it pulled down and fixed.

I keepthinking of having a hangnail and the only way to have it removed is to go to a proctologist.

Mostallseep a little there .... The dealer has a clear silicone that will seal it up ... You'll notice it on the silver cases more than the black.....

My understanding is that is not oil, but actually a form of corrosion due to the direct mating of aluminum to aluminum(???)

WD40 (or similar) and a rag takes it right off. I have seen post here from guys with older TC motors asking the same question.

After my 06 tranny was repaired the black spot shows up in a different spot on the seem, but still there. If you don't want the hassle of wiping it off, just don't ride

It is definitely Par for the course. It isn't really a leak as no fluid is coming out; it is more like diffusion. It is totally harmless.
