I have a 34" inseam, and I loved my pids w/ highway pegs on my FXDL.
Bottom line is mids give you better control, if you are going to be driving more aggressively, then they make sense. If you get mids and add highway pegs, then you're set: best of both worlds. The only reason not to get them is if you really prefer the look and feel of the forwards... and that's pretty much esthetics... You get all these six foot whatevers telling you, you need forwards... you don't, even if you were that tall... I promise... if you like the look and feel that's totally legit, then go with the forwards, if you are used to forwards already, the mids will feel cramped 'till you get used to them.
A vote for mids and highway pegs here. The fatbob is an aggressive looking ride... IMHO I think it looks better with mids anyway, style and function...
I find mid controls very comfortable and would not have anything else. Aggressive riding style, stay with the mids. For comfort, you may prefer the forwards. You ever see a race bike with forwards? Me either. If they improved handling I'm sure the racers would be using them.
First time rider here with a Fat Bob as of December. I tested out the mids and forwards and even with a 30" inseam, the forwards felt much better, I felt bunched up while riding the mids. The forwards give you much more room to lean back on the longer rides.
