Whats the general consesus. I've sat on both and was wondering if the mids position was comfortable after a long ride? Are the forwards hard to get used too? I ride a bagger now and am looking into getting a Bob...not sure of which controls might work for me. I have a 30" inseam!
I have a 34" inseam and the mids on my Super Glide were just not comfortable. I am very happy with the forwards. I have seen posts by guys who claim the mids give them greater control during aggressive riding. I ride very conservatively, so this was not a factor. Its all about comfort for me. I think its all personal preference. With the mids, you can add highway pegs. With the forwards, you can add the mid pegs.
6' and just put on fowards on friday. I used the mid/highway pegs for last few months and can not believe I did not do this sooner.
I have a 34" inseam so YMMV . One thing... I alway rode on the highway pegs and only went to the mids to brake or shift.
I have more control in corners now than before.
I spent 20 years ridding with mids.....left the dealer with mids on the FatBob...first time was a little ackward at first (felt like a dumbass pulling away from the dealer)[&:] after an hour or sooooo
I absolutly love the forwards, in town, on the highway, short rides and long rides very comfortable.
I have forwards on my Fatbob. I am 5' 8". It is a wide bike but the forwards fit me well. I am able to put my heels up on the pegs when I am on longert rides. If I was much shorterthey probably wouldn't work well. I read an article in a magazine that claims anyone under 5' 7" could have difficulties. I wouldn't change mine. Definately prefer forwards. Just my opinion.
I'm quite happy with the mid controls on my Fat Bob. I'm 5' 9", 180 lbs.
I can't imagine long rides with only my buttocks supporting all my weight. I've long felt that mid controls give the rider more positioning options when the body needs to be shifted.
I also like the more aggressive riding position created by the stock drag bars and the mid controls.
Just to leave the option open, I may swap out for forwards at some point - if I feel that I've outgrown the mid controls - but so far I haven't seen any reason to do so.
