I can tell you this - once you get that lower guard on there, you are going to want a chrome pulley cover if you don't have one already. A buddy of mine gave me his lower gelt guard and the pulley was screaming to be chromed after I put that thing on.
[sm=WTFsgign.gif]Maybe I'm missing something. Why would you want to leave the plastic lower on and cover it with a chrome piece? Wouldn't it just replace the plastic one or is that the way it's made?

Seems like another spot on the bike to create a rattle and collect water and dirt between the two. Sort of like a chrome pulley cover instead of getting a chromed pulley. Just adds more weight to the bike also.
Don't get me wrong I like bikes with chrome and also blacked out bikes, just seems strange to make a cover for the lower guard.

I never knew it was a cover either until I went to put it on. It doesn't rattle if installed properly. I did it that way because it was designed that way. It actually may rattle if installed by itself because there is no way to bolt it up at the end towards the front of the bike.
Installed mine in 10 mins. The original screws are reused, just make sure the tabs grab the plastic piece good. I think the reason you retain the plastic piece is to keep it from getting dented from debris being thrown up against the back side by the belt. Ant I agree that it will lead to a chrome pulley cover (thats coming to mine with the next tire change)

Hmmmmm [sm=confused06.gif]. Mine is a aftermarket part and it is mounted with all three screws.

Ha! That's what I used to say. I even tried to convince myself to go ahead and get a tire so I could go ahead and get it done. It finally screamed at me long and loud enough that I took the damn wheel off and put the cover on myself.
