Default Exhaust- what all does it involve?

I'm wanting to put a set of the V&H Big Radius's on my 07-bob. What all does that entail? Can I just buy them and bolt them on or do I HAVE to get it dyno'd?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Theres a few things you might want to do.

Do you have the Stage 1 airflow upgrade? (if not get one)

Do you have a power commander, sert or another device that can regulate your fuel intake? (if not get one of those.

Get the pipes you want (big radius)

Then get the bike dyno tuned.

Seems to be the way to go but you might get some different opinions.

hope this helps.

I have to admit...I'm still new to all this. I'm assuming the air flow upgrade is just buying a new intake, correct? And as far as the power commander goes...I've seen a bit on them, but still have no clue as to what they REALLY do or if they are even REALLY needed. But I'm guessing this all stuff I'll want done once I'm a bit wiser to the whole deal, so I probably will get it. Info would be loads of help though...

thanks Dirico

Ok your looking at the same set up as me and here is by far the best pricing:

Big radius from Somerset motorsports.com in KY. cost $509 plus shipping total about $531

PCIII power commander is needed to manage the fuel/air rations and set up the system best price is $279 from fuelmoto.com

Stage I is that just a high flow air cleaner set up to get more air to the engine best price is any HD dealer that is having a 15 to 20 % off sale.

My dealer will install all these parts if i bring them to them for $267, that is installed and tuned but not dyno'd.

The one quote i got for a dyno was from a local dealer and its was $$195 bucks for 3hrs.

I will buy all my parts from where i listed already have the AC stage I bought and i will either install myself or have the dealer do it no dyno needed at this point in my opinion.

Ohio,
I like I like I like....question though. I've been watching vids and what not on installing the power commander it look really really simple actually. Would it be feesable to install that, bolt on the pipes, and put on the AC and then just haul it to the HD dealer and have them "work out the kinks" so to speak?

I bolted on my V&H sideshots, installed a stage 1 kit from HD, and installed the fuelpak from V&H. All told cost me about $800. Had some popping on Decel called V&H they confirmed I was using the right MAP and helepd me tweak my numbers. My bike now looks, sounds, and runs GREAT. I can not fathom why anyone would pay to have this stuff installed. I did it in less than 4 hours and was drinking fairly heavily.

Each of the components you are considering come with step-by-step instructions. If you have a decent toolbox outfitted with a good selection of basic mechanics tools, you can install these yourself. Just read the instructions a couple times first, then follow them. You will save enough to pay for a Dyno tune.

A forum member named Trotter (owns and mantains a fleet of Harley Davidson lawn mowers) started a thread yesterday about this very thing. May be a good read for you as you consider the purchase of these items.

The installation of the parts you mention is not difficult at all. Takes a little time is all. If you go with a Power Commander PCIII, get it from fuelmotousa.com. Talk to Jamie and he will put the appropriate map in it for the a/c-exhaust set up you install. Later on, if you beef up you engine, you can always have it dyno'd.
