Doing a tacho mod soon and in the HD cattledog its a toss up between a standard 2 5/8" tacho or the same with a shift light, anyone think having a shift light is advantageous or just a gimmick??
I used the Drag Specialties 2 5/8 tach and mounted a chrome cased Raptor Performance shift light under it. If you wick it up occasionally, it's much easier finding the next gear when a light flashes opposed to trying to read a needle on a gauge. If I did it all over again, I'd go with a shift light, whether it was the external or seperate type like I used, or the internal type that flashes in the face of the tach when the rpm set occurs. The light is a nice convienience. JMO.
The bungee chord is for strapping on cargo, not holding the billet tach mount on...!!! LOL. More pics of other installations on Raptor Performance's website. Nice unit compact, easily adjustable and works with any tach.
I suppose it depends on your riding style. When I'm winding it up, I never look at the gauges. You glance down under acceleration and that's when the deer teleports in front of you. It's a scientific fact....
Yes - I'd like to add a shift light.
Analog (tach) can't keep up with the digital rev limiter - I hit it all the time.
My bud's Pro Stock Car does not have a tach - just a shift light.
It's on a chip anyway for leaving, so who needs a tach??
Who / how do you make a shift light??
