This may sound a little strange, but has anyone put an rpm activated shift light on their EFI bike? Trying to watch the tachometer and that tiny needle while running all-out is too difficult. I can see a bar mounted shift light without taking my eyes off the road... plus it's the first part of the "race bike" or "drag bike" kind of a look I am going after with my Roadster. Thanks!
Have not seen it but I don't see why not. I had an auto meter pen light which would look killa mounted on the side of the speedo or tach. I had it in my car but the module that was hidden under the dash was not big but big for a bike. I would say it would work decent if wired right.
Thanks fellas.... I see a place called Raptor Performance makes some pretty nice shift lights.... just not sure if I need to tie in to something on the coils, the ECM, or the tachometer.... maybe I should shoot the guys at Raptor Performance an e-mail.
I 'shift by ear', and at different RPM points depending on conditions.

To me a 'shift light' would be pointless unless I was running at a track, using cams with a narrow power band that needed to be shifted at a set point for maximum power.

the problem lies in the current shift light are not water proof. I am currently working on a way to do it. I am thinking of an enclosed controler box that is fully waterproof. I have the controler that is fully adjustable without a chip, just adjust 2 different ***** tht look like screws. I am going to split the system and mount the LED's remotely on top of my Digital Dakota handlebar housing. If you wish to do it think it through. Another alternitive is to put a Deutsch connector on and keep it in your pocket in a zip lock in rain. I will do it the right way however.
I have an 08 \\;1200C, I didn't want to hit the rev limiter very often so I bought a tach with an adjustable shift light from the stealer, don't know if they make one that would fit the roadster housing. That little led is very bright, you can be watching the road and you will see it when it comes on. If you would like to see a pic shot me your email and I'll send your some pics of it mounted. Later

That's something I hadn't considered.... the unit not being waterproof.... probably not much of an issue for me since I am mostly a "fair weather rider" and it hardly ever rains in Colorado.
