My head has been jonesing to pull of the tins and give myself a denim black paint job... thinking of using the emblems from the night train or street bob.
Should I do it??
will it add to the looks of my bike???
thoughts... opinions...
I wouldn't and here's why, even the factory black denim finish will never be as tough as a gloss finish.Yes the black denim would set off your chrome nicely but it would only be a matter of time before it got scratched, scuffed or got greasy shiny spots on it that you can't get off.I notice you've got allot of chrome if you get chrome polish or wax on a flat paint job it can ruin it.
I have black denim and I would say no. I love the black denim on my bike and would buy it on a new bike every time, but Iâm also realistic and know it will look crappy within 3 years max. I figured for a few bucks, I could spray a fender if a mark really bothers me but in the end, I figure it will need a new paint job within 3-5 years. So unless you want new paint again down the road, I wouldnât recommend it.
If you take your time on ebay and the forum you can a assemble a complete set of tins for somewhere around three hundred bucks then you always have an extra set to experiment with and swap out for your original tins.
I've got denin black with pin stripes which I like but I've got a hankerin' for something different so I've got the extra tins even down to theheadlite bucket and tank console.Planning on going with some kind of flames and lots of chrome this go around, but when I get tired of that I can go back to black. Now all I need is some extra money for the paint and chrome.
That denim black is more durable than most folks think. My bikes not quit two years old and I ride it to work most days unless it's raining when it's time to leave.Bike is outside most every day and the paint looks fine.
