I am trying to decide early what seat would work best on the Fat Bob for both my wife and I. Neither one of us is really very tall, I'm 5-9 she is 5-2. When we both went for a short trip on the dealers Fat Bob demo, she knew the stock seat won't cut it. In the catalog, the Rallyrunner looks like it might be the best choice if we stick with an HD seat, best cross between not looking butt ugly and comfort (I never really thought of the appearance aspect, coming from a BMW background, but on the Fat Bob it will matter more). If it matters, I am planning on an under-seat style backrest, probably a Haulen-*** backrest, as I don't want side plates on the rear fender supports, plus my wife is so small anyways it should work fine. (works like a V Rod backrest so I've heard). So any input appreciated.
Ad an aside, I just found out tonight that Harley has updated "The Customizer" on their website so it includes the Fat Bob, first time they have had it available for the Fat Bob from what I've noticed, not that they have alot of stuff available for it on The Customizer, but some things are there.
my wife is 5-1. I bought a c&c seat that is about the same size/ style as the rallyrunner.
Thing is she hated it . the cusion was too wide for her(9.5") and she had to spread her legs out too wide to reach the pegs around me because the seat moved me back some.
Had to return it(15% restock fee) and we still use the stock seat which both of us are happy with.
Point is... you should find a way to try before you buy because no matter what anyone says or raves about on these forums...YMMV
Thanks for the reply, I'll ask the dealer if they have one we can try. This isn't as wide as the seat you mentioned, pass seat I think they said is 8". Good advice.
Gilly
Nothing beats real "seat of the pants" feel when talking about seats. I'd definately try before you buy. A good seat ain't cheap. I have a Rallyrunner on my 06 Bob.
For 1-up it's pretty comfortable, personally it would be better if I sat a tad lower in the seat to give the lower back some support. 2-up seems OK, the wife doesn't ride a lot, but she's had no complaints on the 50-60 mile trips she's rode on. Mine measured at the widest part of the passenger sectionis about 8 inches. Hope this helps.
