I am looking to upgrade over the stock fat bob seat. First off, I am 6 3 225lbs, the current seat pushes me to far forward and creates a burn/numb spot on my tailbone. I have read everywhere on here about seat options, but I dont want a solo seat, or a full out touring 2 up.
I have thought about the badlander, but when you sit on them they feel awful hard, but love the look of them, anyone have experience on a Fatbob?
Basically I am looking for a seat that puts me back another 1.5-2 inches and drop another 1 inch.
I dont mind sitting lower in the saddle than the stock seat, but do not want to go higher.
What about ripping the stock seat apart and screwing with it myself, anyone done that? Get some black leather and re cover it yourself? Cant be that hard to use a knife and carve out?
I went with the wide mustang seat with removable backrest and passenger pillon, best mod i done to the bike. I know some dont like the look but i do and your back will love it. it does push you back and a tad lower. you have to make the call comfort or style. I'm 6'6 so i know what u feel.
I put a Mustang Vintage Solo with a passenger pillion on my Fat Bob. Night and day! Went from crappy stock to ride ALL day comfort. Bought a removable driver backrest for it and never had the need for it. Go ahead and carve up your stock seat, if you destroy it, I have another one I'll sell you for a great price! Good luck!
I might try carving up mine and see what I come up with, cant be any worse than stock, just have a couple bucks in leather in it, and if that dosent work, buy a seat.
I went with a custom Danny Gray weekday 2-up XL. I love the seat it sits me back about 1" more than factory a touch lower and if just rides better on long drives than my stock seat. When I first put the seat on it was more firm/solid not as soft as the factory seat so I was alittle worried about comfort. After the first hour in the seat I knew I was good the seat offered way more support being firm and I can ride alot longer without wearing myself out. I did the custom seat to match my bike I saved the extra money and I am glad I did the seat is unreal in person. Danny Gray makes a standerd Weekday 2-up XL seat works just as well without the extra cost of a full custom. Also service before and after the sale was first rate.
The Badlander and the Tallboy both for the Dyna's will sit you back further about 1.72 - 2 inches than stock. The Dyna Tallboy does not sit you higher. I love my Tallboy, I can ride for hours without any issues.
I was thinking Badlander myself at first, but I liked the 2up look.
