Thanks for all the replies and tips, guys. I`m kind of glad things worked out the way they did at the dealers. Because of the little time out I took to investigate the matter, via this board, today Iordered the black denim in-lieu of the crimson red denim. My 2007 Wing is a dark red metallic, so the black denim would be awelcome change as well as thetype of bike.

Thanks again for your patience, and my trivial questions.

Roger

I was told the same thing when I bought my black denim Street Bob. I use windex and a micro-fiber cloth to wipe down the tins after I ride. As for the patina I can live with itand just bite the bullet and have everything re-painted in a few years.

Re: Special Ed. I faced the same problem with cargo scratching the rear fender. When I bought my bike Iaddeddetachable side plates and a sissy bar as well as a luggage rack. With five young grandkids who would be begging for rides from Opa I stayed with a solo seat to avoid the problem. But not wanting to scratch the fender with a T Bag I bought a thin foam pad with suction cups. The suction cups don't hold it in place so I use a black bungee with plastic hooks. Whenever I ride with the T Bag I install the pad. It is easily removable and so far has not marred the finish at all. I don't remember off hand where I got it but if anyone is interested I will see if I can come up with the vendor.

I have the pewter denim (Primer grey), had it for1 1/2 years and no noticeable fading. And yes, they do have a flat clear coat. Had to get some touch-up paint. Came in 2 bottles, grey and flat clear coat. To me, the crimson denim looks like the old red lead primer paint. JMHO
