Torque wrench ?? a must??
30 years of wrenching and yet to own one. I have used one once
on cars a long time.
- never owned a torque wrench either.
- would only consider one for , say, tightening an
alum-head to an alum-block setup.
- other than that , the size/type/location of the
fastener will tell you alot about how much torque
you'd need , and of course , don't just ham-fist
it - there's that "feel" factor.
cheers.
.
Well it's been repeated 2 dozen times, "Yes you need two, one in inch and one in foot pounds."
not as accurate but it works and is damn inexpensive.
"Not as Accurate"
Exactly. And,
There is a reason why they are less expensive.
Personally, If I am going to all the trouble of using a TW,
I am going to use a calibrated break-away (Click) TW.
Not trying to start an argument, just making a point.

I am current shopping for some torque wrenches. Those of you that have been working on their bikes for years, what are good ranges to shop for in inch/pounds and foot/pounds?
I just use a beam torque wrench as mentioned and linked to above... it's inexpensive and covers the whole range of values for my bike.
If you are not experienced may be best to spend the jack on two wrenches with at least the values listed above.
