Petcock leaking....help!
My '98 superglide has developed a leak at the bottom of the petcock. Nothing leaking around the tank seal so I assume there are some O-rings inside that might have decided to give. Couple questions - does Harley make an o-ring kit for these? (our dealer didn't know). If I take off the 2 screws in the front by the valve will 5 gallons of gas pour out of that thing?

Your dealer has a parts catalog that shows pics of all the parts & part numbers. If they were unable to come up with a yes/no answer on this, ask 'em to let you look through the pertinent section. Don't pull the screws. You might get the valve guts in your hand, and that wouldn't be a good thing. If you want to try a home-brew fix, drain the tank, then disassemble the petcock. If it's an o-ring type, you can take the remains of the old o-ring to a car parts joint and they should be able to come up with one. Make sure they know it has to stand up to gasoline. If that ain't feasible, there are plenty of aftermarket petcocks available from the parts joints. Many of 'em are better quality and cheaper to boot compared to the MoCo part.

The existing are probably Buna N rubber. Get viton if you can. You will need a light oil or grease when you put it together. You don't want to nick them and have to start all over.
