Default Big Sucker question

Just fitted a Ness b/s to my bob but am a bit confused.

In the instructions it says to clean and oil the filter regularly.

Should I have oiled the filter before fitting it? it felt bone dry out of the box but then so did my s/e one that I had before. Didn't think they needed oiling? [&:]

If you want to oil it the K & N filter clean and recharge kit will work. Just dont over do the oil or it will drip red on your engine

I've never oiled them right out of the box. If they're pink, they've been oiled. Not that it can hurt, but I doubt that it is necessary.

Yep, the pink stuff on the filter, and probably on your instruction sheet, is the oil. They come pre-oiled and ready to go. You can use the K&N recharge kit when it comes time to clean and re-oil but it should last a good long time before needing to be cleaned unless you are really riding through some dirt.

They were made by a little company in Wisconsin that you probably aren't aware of. Harley Davidson. Maybe some day they will improve their design and quality so other people may actually pay money for their products.

I also hear there is a forum on this world-wide-web thingy where a few people talk about this little company who makes weird products... Maybe that will catch on also...
