The difference is a degree and a half. The FXDC is 29 degrees. The Low Rider is 30.5 degrees. I haven't riden a LR but I don't think that little bit of difference will mean much, if anything in the handling. The FXDL is a great looking bike, but for the price the FXDC is going to be hard to beat.
I think jmpancoast is correct.... looks that way anyhow!
It is correct. On the comment why buy a Low Rider. The color I as able get Orange and Black. Black powdercoated engine and tac were amoung the top reasons. I could buy any bike by the way some just don't fit me as well. 5'5'.
The frame rake is the rake or angle of the frame itself. The triple clamps have a pitch or rake as well. What he's saying is the bikes have the same frames but the triple clamps have different pitches. Make sense?
Go to the website. If flash player is installed ask for specs on the bike picture of bike little dot by forks click on that it tells you fork angle of 30.5 degrees. Website is right.
Yeah, that kinda makes sense, but you figure Harley would clarify stuff like that when showing specs..
Curious though, not knowing all the technical mumbo jumbo, I thought the part of the frame in which the front end is attached to the trees, was the rake, yes, no?
This being welded, my vision to change rake would take cutting and rewelding, is my thinking wrong? Is it easier?
Just seeing if it should enter my mind in the future to possibly change this.
The salesman told me that one of the main differences in these two bikes is the rake. I believe he said the low rider is 32 degrees and the super glide is 28 degrees, which pulls the front wheel closer to the frame on the super glide. I have ridden the low rider and like the way it handles, feels etc. I have not ridden the super glide. Will the rake make a difference in the way the bike rides? I have also read that some say the super glide is a choppy ride. Have you ridden both and is there a noticeable difference? Thanks.
The rake is the same on the new models (2007 and up), but the FXDL has a slightly longer wheelbase (.4 inches). I've ridden both and could not tell any difference. I went with the FXDL as I liked the look and bars better. Plus, when I added all the additional accessories, I basically had what a FXDL comes stock with. Buy what appeals to you and you'll be happy with either bike.
