The difference is a degree and a half. The FXDC is 29 degrees. The Low Rider is 30.5 degrees. I haven't riden a LR but I don't think that little bit of difference will mean much, if anything in the handling. The FXDL is a great looking bike, but for the price the FXDC is going to be hard to beat.
+1 on the price difference. I rode bothbefore choosing my FXDC. The FXDC suited my riding style much better. I tend to be a bit aggressive in the corners and the DC seemed more "flickable" than the LR. THe LR was nice enough, don't get me wrong, but for my riding style, the FXDC suited me better.

Both the Low Rider and the Superglide Custom has a rake of 29 degrees. Your salesman needs to do some reading on the new models (from 2006). Earlier there was a difference. The main difference between riding the Low Rider and the Superglide Custom is your stance whielseated. The risers on the Low Rider gives a more laid back position. For cruising this is great. On my own Low Rider I wish for a more forward leaning postition for a more active style of riding.

I believe you would be correct on "frame rake"; however, the fork rake is changed by changing out the triple clamp assembly (upper and lower. Those are the bracket/clamps that your forks slide in to. Assuming HD's are like MX bikes, you canchange the pitch or rake on MX bike by purchasing after market triple clamp assemblies.

If the frame rake is the same on FXDC and FXDL you could conceivably make the FXDC the same as the FXDL by installing FXDL triple clamps (upper and lower) or vice versa.

Experts, is the old motocrosser off on his thinking?

the low rider has a small degree of rake in the triple trees... Just look at the bike from a side view and compare the angle of the fork tubes to the angle of the headtube.... sometimes the most obvious things are overlooked....
FXDc matches the headtube angle and the FXDL is raked out!
the rake is less than in the past but it is still there.

for the money (if that is a factor) you can't go wrong with the FXDC... Ride em both and choose the one you like the best....Or you could change your mind on either and get a denim black street bob[sm=happy046.gif]

Can not beat the color options for the FXDL. Just lean forward for the aggressive riding. Both have a 19" front tire that holds the rode.I did not like the tank badge of the FXDC or the tank sticker of the FXDL. So I ordered a custom color for a fair price and a great tank sticker.Check out the Custom Colors.

Sorry ridinlow we got off topic a bit. What ever bike you get you will love it. It is raked out though 1.5 degrees in the fork angle. I can't stop. You will need a photobucket or something similar to upload your pics. Great section on the search function on this forum.

I ride them both, the 02S/G and the 05 L/R, there is a difference between the two in ride. There is a three inch difference in wheel base between the two. Just after I got the L/R, Ilearned real quick the difference in handling, the shorter S/G will turn just a tad quicker. The L/R seems it would happy on lazy curves on a country road whereas the S/G is happyin the canyons and switchbacks. I have quite happy with both of them. Just my 2 cents.
