Old School-Custom bikes made out of a Harley frame, not a new custom built frame. That's where the terms bobber, chopper and digger came from.
bikes before the billet era. The bikes built before this latest craze that is now starting to die off. Indian Larry built some "old school" bikes, at first everyone mocked him, then started following his lead on this.[&:]
Parts made by the owner, unique one off stuff, simple paintjobs, etc. Good stuff. I like the older style ideas with modern motors. The old motors look nice and everybody loves them, but I am for reliability now. I've tried to blend them with my Superglide.
I agree with the terminology stuff. Forget the terms and just build and work on your own stuff.
lets think about something............
What ever happen to those 50's 60's and 70 bikes that were chopper, I did a couple on you tube, in China or some Far east county, Couple of young girls and boys doing the kickers. one girl got it on the second kick. But were are the rest, ????
( I know of one 50 old Philly cop bike, covered with a blanket in a garage in Freeland Pa.)
Typically, when people talk about "old school" they're refering to the "first golden age of motorcycles" from 1966-1976...you know "Easy rider", "Hell's Angels on Wheels", "Run Angel Run" that whole era. You can get some vintage Easyriders on Ebay and see what old school actually is. Compairing the Easyriders from that era... it's not even the same magazine as it is now...it's so saccrinized now. IMHO
