Not a quick modification to say the least. The mufflers these baffles came out of are off a 2003 Softail Standard. Redrilled and set up to be removeable for future work as necessary. They seem to work well with the S&S 96" Evo. I really don't care about loud but I'm sure they are way louder than stock, I just needed better flow.

I'm not sure you were talking to me. If you were, they work just fine. I'm sure these are more restrictive than the Khrome Werks mufflers designed to bolt up to this Softail system that I initially ran but those mufflers were too loud for my taste. I did not even try to use these OEM mufflers in stock configuration, I was concerned they would damage the engine because they were WAY too restrictive so I can't give an evaluation of improved performance (stock to modified). I can tell you that the bike does seem to run as strong as it did with the Khrome Werks mufflers, at least on the street. In a drag race, the bike would probably run faster with the Khrome Werks mufflers...there wasn't much inside 'em. I went down one size on both the intermediate and main jet when I installed the modified stock mufflers, which didn't hurt my feelings one bit, this bike works for a living hauling my butt back and forth to work (80 mile round trip) so fuel consumption is somewhat of a consideration.
Tried my stock mufflers with the center disk punched out and I didn't like the sound at all, plus the stockers have a pretty narrow ID and are restrictive. That's my opinion though. I guess I am used to my Cycle Shacks and just can't get used to a quieter sound. Rather than mod the stockers, keep your eyes peeled on ebay - lots of deals, cheap. Got my ancient Screaming Eagles for $36. To me, slipons, or exhaust, doesn't need to be new, just in decent shape. Some people seem to change exhaust like they change boxers so you can find deals everywhere. My 2 cents...
I dont know man.. With places like jireh cycles selling cycleshack slip ons for a 100 bucks. I dont think I'd waste the effort and time to drill out stockers to just find out I want a little more. Just my lazy 2 cents.

RE: Modifying stock mufflers.
It was easy on my Fat Bob. The baffles are assembled in the mufflers with Pop Rivets. I measured the id of the baffle, which was right at 1.25". So off to Lowes, I purchased a 1.25" metal cutting hole saw, and a drill extension. I took the muflers off because it would be easier to run the hole in from the inlet side and drilled out the plug.Too easy. Now I more or less had straight thru glass pack mufflers. A little louder, better tone, but still not what I was looking for. Last week I carefullydrilled out the rivets, removed the baffles, and pulled out the fiber glass packing. I reassembled the baffles in the mufflers with pop rivets. Good bit louder, deeper tone. Overall better, I do hear an odd ticking or chirping sound at certain rpm ranges, but I guess this will get me by till I decide on what I really want for an exhaust system.
