I have read somewhere that the denim paint is supposed to fade like an old pair of blue jeans with time.
The Street Bob came with Denim Black i 2006. Anyone havedenim paint that has started to fade?
Just wondering how it might look.
hi, iv had mine 2 years and no fading. from what i've heard from others its only where you rub off the paint...e.g. if you are rubbing your knees off the tank and stuff.
from what i understand the dull finish is an overcoat, the undercoat below that is gloss, so you wear away the dull coatand expose the gloss.
it probably originally was a marketing ploy as another way of saying that the new paint was not fully tested yet for wear etc.
hahaha i've become a cynic.....

it was still the samea month ago anyway whenmy dash was off. can only comment from what i know on mine really.
mine has definatly faded. only had my emblems on the tank for a month after i bought the bike and when i pulled them off if youlooked close enough you could see the difference in the paint. now its blended all in and you can't tell.
I've had mine for 8 months, just over 10,000 so even when not covered its in the Florida sun, a LOT....the front fender has a gray finish now and the the only way I've kept the tank and fairing black at all was with a black wax that at first add a little gloss but within a week of riding is just as flat as when it was new, those areas have also faded even with the constant care...I am less than thrilled with the intense fading...The odd part is my bags and rear fender have barely faded at all, and I can really see the difference in the trunk which spends most of its time in the house.
So I decided to take bug and tar remover to the front fender washed it then went back with some invisible glass and I'll be damned ! Its not perfect but a wholllle hellove lot better than it was ! And the foaming invisible glass makes it soo friggin fast to clean the bike...wish I had found you guys earlier !
IMHO the whole "supposed to fade like denim" is HD marketing BS. Denim paint is easy to clean and easy to screw up. It's just Harley's way of saying once it's rubbed smooth or slightly scratched there is nothing you can do about it.
