Default Drill Trip Tree, Bad idea?

Hey guys,

I have considered drilling and tapping my upper and lower tripple trees to accept a bolt/stud on the side and center of the forks. Do you think that this would compromise its strength. I believe the trip trees on the fxst have this.

Not real keen on the idea, but have found no other options besides turn signal relocation clamps but those are all off center.

I can't see that it would be a problem.

Click on the links at the top of this page for some ideas on turn signal relocation that are cheap and easy. https://www.hdforums.com/m_2546488/mpage_15/tm.htm Drilling some small holes will prolly be OK but, also may be avoidable.

I really won't consider doing anything that will compromise the safety of my machine. Yes I am aware of all the turn sig relocation options out there. What I am actually intending to do is mount (probably road king) lowers, lightbar, and windshield to my dyna much like they do on the roadking and softail bikes.

I haven't seen any triple trees with suds on the softails for the turn signals. The FXSTB uses fork clamps for the turn signals.

If you look at the heritage, deluxe, and fatboy they all have studs to mount accessories to. The road king as well.

The FL has all that stuff bolted to the light bar that is bolted to the bottom of the tree with the head light and the winshield is on the headlight necklace. The 07 fat boy out in the garage doesn't have any holes in the side of the trees.

Well that is not how they are mounted on the new bikes. I have been at the dealer looking things over and measuring them for my bike.
