Just another ploy to get your money from your wallet into his. I reuse them all the time. I bet the mechanic at the harley shop reuses his own wheel bearings.
[QUOTE=Spartagus981;18795322]If you get them to loose or tight your bearings will fail.[/QUOTE
Not to mention they're sealed ball bearings. When the were pulled or slide hammers out by the inner race, the ***** were pinched in the grooves between the inner and outer race. Pressed in sealed ball bearings are one time use. Unless at the very least you don't mind ruining your rims when the bearings go bad and at the worst dying .
Surprised was not mentioned here I have had good luck throwing the Bearings in the Freezer Overnight and take them out just before Installing.. They slide right in with very little pounding although it's still critical match up your Pounding Tool with the Inner Race ..
12 year old thread, but I gotta say, reuse wheel bearings? And I thought I was a cheapskate!
Oh and besides the freezer trick,I wonder if the OP's powder coater coated the surfaces where the bearings seat? they won't go back in if that's the case.

Think you meant outer race... But smaller than the pocket in the rim...
