I bought a 5-3/4" chrome headlight bucket off of ebay that i want to mount to my lower tree on my bike. Being a Superglide I currently have a top mount with a visor and am not a fan of it. Anyway, I picked up the bucket for $0.99 plus shipping so if it doesn't work I am not out much.
The bottom of the bucket has two tabs which are 1-3/4" ID apart from each other. I cannot find a mounting block that would accomodate it. Any ideas??? I am ready to try and fab something but don't know what material would be best to use for this.
I need some help or volunteer to make this part for me. Anybody???
Check out Headwinds. They make a number of different bottom mounts depending on height and depth you need/want. Dennis Kirk and J&P carry most of the Headwinds mounts.
I already checked out headwinds and couldn't find anything wide enough. Anybody have a light like this or have any idea who makes it??? LikeI saidI bought it off ebay for $0.99 but like it and want to make it work.
spacing looks very strange - never seen it before.
lots of people here with metal working skills - something out of an alloy should not be too difficult.
Actually, a late model Sporty custom has tabs that are that far apart. The mounting block has a tube welded to the top and a bolt runs through both tabs and the tube. You could use a wide variety of mounting blocks and then cut tubing spacers to fit between either side of the block and the insides of the tabs and then run a 2 1/4" nut and bolt with a lock washer through the whole thing.
