Default Making the switch to Dyna

Hey guys, I'm seriously considering a switch from XL to Dyna. I've researched the heck out of softails and dynas. I believe the Dyna is where I want to be, wide glide to be exact. Two up is a concern, since I've only written solo on each and only around the block at the stealer. Both are nice, but my biggest concern is I'm going to have this for a long time, so I have to make the right choice.

Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD CHOICE TO ME BUT I DONT LIKE THE RUST COLOR ON THE 08 WIDE GLIDE. GOOD BIKE THOUGH!

I wish I could buy new, but no way. I should have been more specific. It will definitely be used. All the years seem to be good from 2000 to present, so not sure how specific I should be in terms of model.

Words of wisdom, OK, you need to go test ride a Dyna and you need to take somebody with you so you will know about riding double..as for which one to buy, well, that has to be up to you, we all have different ideas about which bike is the best..personally for riding double I prefer the E-Glide Standard I have, but when I ride solo I like the FXD that I have, same for long trips, the E-Glide Standard gets the nod..as for nothing but TT Racing the softail line is hard to beat, they look good, as for long trips, well I just don't know, never had one..no matter what I say, or anybody else says, the final decision will be entirely up to you, and maybe your riding partner..

Perhaps you could tell us why you want to move from the XL?

I can't tell exactly what your concerns are about 2-up from your email. But you can certainly ride 2 up on a dyna - especially on a wideglide. In my opinion, the stock seats leave a lot to be desired for the rider and the passenger so I can't say that the seat will do for you but they are easily replaceable. Mine FXDC came with a stock 2-up seat but the wife hated it. So, I bought a sundowner that I later traded for a Tallboy. Both are very comfortable front and back for 2 up riding. That's all I use mine for though.

My 07 Street Bob rides very nice in stock trim when solo....I'm 240 lbs.

However, when my wife jumps on....130 lbs... we tend to bottom out on big bumps and railroad tracks, etc. Also, the front end dive under heaving braking is a bit much when 2-up.

To remedy this, I picked up some Progressive 412 Heavy Dutys and progressive front springs. I haven't had the chance to test them out yet due to snow.

Wifey hates the Sporty. She said it doesn't feel stable for two up, doesn't take bumps well and its narrow. She won't ride with me anymore because of it. She personally loves the look of softails, but the wide glide got her attention. She liked the apes

I got the WG.

But I heard that the Softails are more comfy. Never rode one myself. I just always wanted a WG.

Softail Custom has the apes too!
