I got the WG.

But I heard that the Softails are more comfy. Never rode one myself. I just always wanted a WG.

Softail Custom has the apes too!
The Custom was a big consideration till I learned you have to get a 2000 or later softail to get counterbalanced and the custom was not re-introduced til 06 I believe. This raises the price considerably.

Perhaps you could tell us why you want to move from the XL?
Wifey hates the Sporty. She said it doesn't feel stable for two up, doesn't take bumps well and its narrow. She won't ride with me anymore because of it. She personally loves the look of softails, but the wide glide got her attention. She liked the apes
You should really look at a bike in the touring class. I have a dyna and a sportster. They both ride about the same. Try a Road King or E-glide, they are a ton better then a XL or FX for 2 up riding.

PERSONALLY IF I GOT TO BUY ANOTHER BIKE AND I RODE ONLY SOLO ID GET THE NIGHTRAIN. IF I RODE MOSTLY 2-UP ID GET A ROAD KING...THE BEST OF THE BEST.

I agree to getting the Roadking... it makes more sense for two up....I ride two up a bit and I now know I want a roadking.

I haven't seen anywhere where he says he wants to ride 2-up most of the time. And a dyna is perfectly capable of 2-up anyway, especially if not "all the time", unless they are both "elephants".

Here's a suggestion, go buy the dyna you want and let her ride the sporty...

I'm in the "get a RoadKing" camp. I currently own a Dyna, Sporty and a RoadKing and for two up riding, which they will all do, the RoadKing does it best. If the majority of your riding is two up it will be hard to beat a RK it in this regard. Good luck with your decision.

It won't be most of the time by any means, but I want her to feel comfortable enough to want to ride. The RK would prolly be the bike of choice, however they get a little pricy. She has shown zero interest in riding on her own, so Ima trade the Sporty to keep payments low.

For the record, we are not elephants 195lbs for me, 140lbs for her.

Have you tried a sundowner seat and a sissy baron the Sportster? It makes a huge difference. The passenger seat on the sundowner is huge/wide and very plush. This chould be a cheap option as well.
