Always liked the looks of the lowriders. The black and chrome is a hard combo to beat, plus I got a screamin deal on my 01!

Well, here's athread I can sink my teeth into.

Metalgear and I have the same model exactly. Got mine in Sept. Just not enough time to really enjoy. Come on spring!!!
As for me, I used to ride dirt & street back in the 70's & 80's. My steet bike at the time was an 80's modelHonda 650 custom. It was a good bike, reliable and quick, but where's the pizazz. It just didn't have it. 30 minutes out on a ride and I was ready to go back home. ZZzzzz bored.
I truly think it put me in a coma of sorts... just totally lost interest in bikes for like the next 20 yrs.

Then this past summer, I'm going across the parking lot at work and someone rode in their Fatboy with that blueOrion paint job... Man, it really caught my eye. It was absolutely beautiful. That was the spark!
Everytime I saw it out there, I had to go make love to it with my eyes. Next thing I started looking at them online, checking all the different models. I was on the hook and slowly getting reeled in. Then it was trips to the dealers to oogle some more.

Thats when I sort of took some stock in my life. It has beenvery stale for a long timeand I was doing nothing. I realized, what the hell am I doing?
Thats when I decided I'm goingto get a Harley... just didn't know what model. It kills me to thinkof all the time wasted that I could have been riding and enjoying life. I had been through a very heavy bout of depression formany years.
Checking out the bikes though, was bingingsome life back to me.
I found I was torn between the Wideglide, Lowrider & Superglide custom.

The Superglide was nice, but I didn't like angle onthe bars, and after seeing the WG &LR blacked engine, that narrowed it down further for me.
I liked the SG, but the silver engine with the chrome was too much silver.Other thanthat, theSGprice was hard to argue about.
Ialso liked the WG but the price was just too damn high. Then the LR... it just felt right. Liked the bar angle and the blacked engine to break up the chrome. Besides, I'm 5' 8", so the seating arrangement was better. It cost a bit more than the SG, but I had to have it.

Now here I am,wanting to make some customizations myselfbut the pocketshave beena bit shallow. Guess that's why I haven't been posting...haven't been able toafford upgrades, soI don't havemuch to talk about. But the hard times are about over, getting the house refinanced to a lower rate, throwing the bike in there to pay it off, have the house paid for in 15 years and only costing an extra hundred more than what I'm paying now.
So very soon, the pockets are getting deep again...I'll be getting some "stuff". hehe I like stuff.
Thereally coolthing about my LR is that I don't feel that "ZZZzzzz"(snore)feeling I had with the Honda. I just love riding it and hate to put it up at night.
Oh well, enough rambling of my life story... I just turned 48 in Dec., so I'm going to start "riding" some new chapters in life. Hehehe [sm=happy046.gif]

Ps. That is a really nice lookingride Havanablast ! Love that color scheme.
And Jake, your's is a beauty as usual.

Cool thread. I just bought mine 3 weeks ago, its a little older, a 94, but I love it. Fits perfect. I'm 51 and may never replace it. And I can't upload a pic from work....stinks!

Lowrider all the way............I'm actually thinking of putting some "hogpro" black 5 spoke wheels on it. How do you think it would look? Going for the 50/50 black/chrome look.

Thats a very nice bike you have there, Havanablast. I have the same model and would be very interested in any info about the frontend conversion. I have been researching several different methods to acomplish this, but what you have done is exactly the look I am after.

Thanks in advance,

DD

ridinlow....... The only concern about black spokes would be the dust and dirt that would SHOW UP BIG TIME. Just think of a black car. It's bad enough with chrome rims and spokes, but black would really, really show up IMO.
shawn e....... I too really like your wheels. Where did you get them..... name of the style???if you recall. Thanks
