Default running rough after wash

I know some of you have had this problem. I have a 06 Bob with V&H pipes and S/E AC with a powercommander. After washing, it runs rough as if the rear plug is not firing. When I pull the plug it's covered with a black soot. I have dual pipes and when I run my finger along the inside of the pipe to the rear cylinder it comes out with like a black powder on my finger. I'm guessing the shop that installed my PC did not do a good job sealing things up, any suggestions? Last time it happened I put new plugs in and it ran fine, perhaps it had a little drying time as well.

Two possibilities - first, you could have soaked your air filter (pretty easy to check and correct), second, the connectors between your PCIII and ECM could have gotten wet. This will require you pulling them apart, drying them and coating them in a good dielectric grease (to stop this from happening in the future). Or, you can just wait a few days till everything dries up.

I'm betting on the second one as this is a pretty common problem. When I wash my bikes I try to avoid any water hitting them harder than what comes out of the hose without any spray attachment.

Many threads hereinvolving the same issue. Something electric got wet, so just let it dry out and maybe use a blower to get all the water out of the nooks and cranniesnext timeyou wash it

Another in agreement on the PCIII connections. It also happened to me. Dielectric grease will do the job.

Been there - done that...........

Where is your connector from the original harness to the PCIII. The plug that you disconnected from the ECM.

It is probably the problem - water in the plug - it was not designed to be waterproof.

In my case I had to move the plug to the space between the battery and the electrical panel under seat, in order to sqeeze the PCIII under the seat. The very first time I got the scoot wet from washing, it did the same thing. Water was in that connector. Dried it out and it still did the same thing. Opened it up and there was more water that had drained down from the wiring. Blew it out with an air hose and let it set for about an hour opened up and no more problem. BUT, I am very careful not to get water in that area now.
