Thanx everyone for the input.
I ordered the Bearbacks yesterday and will let you know what I think when I mount them.

Ditto cptmike. I installed a set yesterday with the quick release kit for the sissy bar. I am going to fabricate something to clean up the isolator situation

I finally decided on the Bare Backs to make my bags detachable.
My main concern was how far out would they move the bags since I have the detachable
sissy bar setup now. (pics below)

Now the way I look at it, the sissy bar mount made the bags stick out to far to begin with.
IMO the added distance from the Bare Backs is not that much more.

Another concern was how the hell were these (Bare Backs) going to keep the bags tight against the bike.
The answer is the tight tolerance that they are machined.

Finaly. They do not lock.
Well if you have a siren on your HD security system, I am sure that removing the bags would shake the bike enough to set that puppy off.

To summarize.... I highly recommend Bare Backs.

Without and With Bare Backs on bags...

Since we're on the subject of the Barebacks mounts, I have a question. I just installed a set of these bag mounts on my '09 Heritage myself. I currently have the bags off. I also bought the chrome caps that cover the Barebacks hardware on the bike when the bags are off. These appear to just push on, then pull off. However, when I pushed them on, they were VERY difficult to get pushed all the way on. Then when I went to take them off, they are darn near impossible to get off without using pliers or something, which, of course, will scar up the chrome. There were no instructions, so I'm assuming they just push on and pull off. Am I doing something wrong? If they don't just push on and pull off, how do they go on and come off? Thanks for any help.

i noticed the same thing...i just give them a bit a bit of a twist on and twist off with a firm finger grip and that seems to help...
