Hi...I recently upgraded from and 83 Sporty to an 07 Street Bob. My question is this...if I change the filter element to a K&N, and put a set of the V&H Sideshots on, do I NEED to get the tuner or go to the stealer and have the ECM reprogrammed? I hear putting the Fuelpak or others on is a pain due to space, and the stealer will rip me, even though I know the service manager. Will it run better? Will I burn the engine up? I am an auto mechanic, but automotive o2 sensors will make the ecm adjust for changes, unlike the ones on my bike...from what I hear about Harley o2 sensors, they are very narrow band. thanks!
I was at the dealer today pricing V & H shortshots. Man the dealer pisses me off sometimes! They won't install the $250 V & H fuelpack, only the $400 HD tuner without voiding warranty because it is not a genuine HD product. I'm sure it would be fine, V & H does'nt put out crappy products. They also told me that any aftermarket muffler other than the SE's reiquire atuner. As much as I want to do my own thing, I'm going to listen to themand maintain my warranty. I may call a couple other local dealers. Post up what you figure out.
im hopin somebody can help me out...i dont want to damage anything or have the bike runnin lousy. i also dont want to spend a boatload of money tuning the thing just to get rid of the stock mufflers.
I asked all the same things!! I was told that if you change the air out(pipes)AND the air in(filter) you need to do something with the fuel. Change one or the other you are fine. I just added a PCIII and a big sucker air filtertwo days ago. It was a tight fit but I got it in just as many others have. The PCIII from fuelmoto came preprogramed to fit the mods I had for just under $300. Fuelmoto people were great to me and seem to have that kind of reputation as far as I know. I ran cycle shack slip on by the waywith nothing eles doen for 1000miles or so.I was told thata fuel system will make the fuel air mix "right"and lower operating temps. I'mno expert just telling you what Iknow.Just wait there will be more advice comming!!
does anyone have any experience with the v&h side shots?
i just bought an 09 fxdb and am trying to decide which exhaust to go with.
not looking for outrageous performance rather a good balance of looks and everyday dependability.
also considering the se heavy breather intake to go with it, any experience with either of these would help.
