Default Drag bars help...advice?

Hey guys,
My next mod is definately going to be my bars. I definately want a set of drag bars & I'm stuck between H-D's Street Slammer bars & Carlini's original T-Bars. Here are the specs on both:

H-D Street Slammers

$259.00 + tax

1" 1/4 thickness

30.25" tip to tip
7" rise
5.75" pullback

Carlini Original T-Bar

$220.00 + $25 shipping

1" 1/4 (the thickness I'd get)

30" tip to tip
7" rise (the rise I'd get)
7" pullback

The dilema: I'm a rider who likes to sit back & relax when I ride...the further I can sit back the better. I'm a fairly big guy at 6' Ft 235 lbs. I'm now ridin' my '07 FXDC with the stock buckhorn bars that allow me to sit back somewhat as I'm ridin'. I want the drag bar look, but don't want to feel as if I'm leaning more forward now & REALLY reaching for my bars. On a long ride, I still want to be able to sit back, rest my left hand on my leg & not feel like I'm REALLY stretching for the bars.

The question: Do any of you guys have either one of these bars? How's the reach? Can you still sit back & not feel as though your REALLY stretching for your grips? Which of these 2 bars would you recommend for me then? How's the quality on each? Cleanliness of the welds? Overall better looks? Any & all info is appreciated, thanks!

i'd go with a lower rise if you can or else they will look really funny coming over the top of the tank. i've seen a lot of people with that set up and it makes me sick. i'm sure they can do better than that. maybe i just see something different

You might consider Wild-1 drags. The 507 model has 10" rise and 12" pullback. Very clean welds. Great quality and look. With my 3" tank lift, the rise doesn't look as high, but the hand position is perfect. Pics of them in my album.

Nothing wrong with the slammers but Carlini's are "top notch" quality, IMO. If there is any way you can try sitting ona bike that has some or take a set and hold on your bike where they should go, I'd suggest it. Mine have the 8" rise and about the same pullback angle as the slammers and they are perfect for me, at 6'4". At 6', you may find yourself leaning forward unless you have ape arms. Try before you buy if you can.

I have the wild one chubbie 560 on mine. Much more comfortable, and responsive to turning.

Sorry if mine make you sick but I didn't get them to please you. [8D]

Actually, I like the shorter rise as well but they just didn't fit where I wanted them due to my height. However, a jackly tank lift to change the angle of the tank and a leather fork bag on the front have put things back into proportion for me, IMO.

FXDC Rider, you won't be happy if you buy purely for the look because it's not like you can adjust the risers or anything. Find a style you like and then get the measurements right for what you need or you'll wish you had - especially if you like to lean back.

I'm about your size and I really like my Street Slammers, however I do reach for them a bit
