07 fxdwg switch housing
OK 07 wide glide owners...before I tackle this please let me know how much of a hastle is it to switch theoriginal black handle bar switch housing unit to the chrome one (part #70222-96B).
and what are they referring to with the clutch interlock switch in the left side handlebar switch housing.
I'm sure the harley directions are making this harder than it is, but I figured I would pick your brains before I decide to tackle this.

It can be done. did the change-out on both my WG and UC. Recommend you get a HD service manual to refer to. Take your time and be patient.
the '07s have a small switch in the housing that the clutch lever rubs against. it prevents you from starting the bike in gear, unless you have the clutch lever pulled in. I got my covers off of e-bay for a lot cheaper that what HD wanted. however the set i got didn't have the hole for the clutch interlock switch to fitthrough. Using the old covers, i just drilled a hole in the new covers for the clutch swith, and it works great.

bill, it is pretty staightforward.
Keep an eye out for the little pieces that can easily get away.
Only surprise you may encounter would be if you don't shim
the brake lever for removal/reassembly.
Like gman has already said,
follow the Service Manual -
word for word.

done...nice improvement...definately a pain in the ***** though...they don't give you much wire to work with...definately a pre happy hour project if anyone else trys...the service manual is better than the instructions (of course)...thanks for the heads up and have a safe ride everyone
