Well I am on my way to the dealer to see if they 1. have the controls in stock. 2. Can put them on today.
Is there anything I should be looking for to make sure they are done right? Any surprise charges I should be on the lookout for?
Did this back at Christmas. Be prepered to spend a full day on it. You will have to remove everything left side including the clutch and flywheel. There is a tool to lock the clutch and flywheel in place to loosen and tighten the bolts. I did not have this but cut a piece of wood similar in length and it seemed to work fine. Make sure you have the shop manual before you start this. I really had no idea until I got into just what all was involved. It wasn't hard, just took all day to do. They are great when its done!
If you're expecting to pay around $300 labor from the dealer to install then nope, shouldn't be any surprises. I wouldn't drop a dime at the dealer for service personally. If I can't do it myself it goes to an independent.
LOL even after moving over to a V-Rod with forwards, he's still the mid-controls ****.
I would hope the dealer has plenty of experience putting forwards on by now. From what I hear, it's not rocket science but I also hear they charge a pretty penny to do the install for you. That's why I bought Kury's for $300 and put them on myself - much easier to install.
