The bike should be here on Wednesday, Any ideas on how to make this bike into a modern old school bobber

The list can go on and on.....my suggestion.....google is your friend....search for pictures from the early era of Bobbers if you want it to look truely period. Remember that MOST of the old stuff was made from Rigid or old FL frames. The modern frames are completely different. You have a good starting point. I would remove the reflectors, change the air cleaner (round), add some fishtail pipes or upsweeps (truely old school) add some hot rod pin striping, change the seat (red and white rolled and pleat would be cool), modify (bob) the rear fender, which would require a new tail light (limp dick or maybe even tombstone), You could also remove the front fender but I prefer fender on the front as it lets you have more surface for pin stripes, make the turn signals less obtrusive (Fab Bob stemsare a good start) Smoke lenses also help visually hide them while still making them usable. Change the tank emblem to an older vintage. That is just for starters. I am not a big fan of making everything black....but that is just me. Its your bike do what makes you happy.

Looks like you have a great start. The possibilities are endless. Just use your imagination. But a couple things to start could be red & white pinsripes. Remove the reflectors and remove or replace the tank badges. New pipes in black or wrapped and a stage 1 filter with round or open cover.

Take a look in the "Post pics of your dynas here" thread at the top of the dyna home page and start browsing - when you see an idea you like, PM the owner to see how it was done, what parts, etc. There really are many ways to achieve what you're looking to do from mild to wild. As said above, check out pics on the internet for old school bikes to get some styling ideas and then adopt and adapt. Make it your own and pay careful attention to performance - the evolution of Bobbers was more than a styling trend! Try to stay true to it's roots and avoid mixed metaphors!

There also are some good books and many, many magazines devoted to bobbers and early choppers - check out Amazon and Motorbooks for "The Art of the Bobber" and "How to Build a Bobber", and newstands/websites for the mags: "The Horse Backstreet Chopper" and "Dice" just to name a few. Once you have your styling cues, a little ingenuity and creativity, some fabrication, time, money, and judicious choice of parts can get you real close to capturing that old school look you're after.

But w/o a rigid frame, bobbed rear fender, and a solo sprung seat, it really won't be bobbing going down the road!

Good looking bike.

As your in FL start riding that sweet ride and looking and ideas will come to you that will be what makes it your Bobber and not just like someone elses.

Like stated look on the site and pictures and when your out riding and see other bikes and you will get ideas and next thing you know you will be posting pic of one bad *** bobber

man with the time of year it is... toss some pipes on it.. and ride it... do your mods in the winter... or at least put some miles on it first, fine out how the bike rides first... then mod it out... sharp bike man! i think a bike should ride as good if not better as it looks! red wheels are sweet!

Nice looking starting point.
The wheels are badass.
As far as 'old school'....
Think black and chopped

Didn't we already do this in another thread? First, get rid of the reflectors, roll the bars forward, get a round or S&S air cleaner, some small diameter slip-ons,maybe wrap the headers, either loose the tank badges or get some old timey ones...
