Near finished with a couple mods
The first thing I tackled was my rear fender and lighting. I had originally considered chopping the fender, but the more I looked at the lines of the bike and my seat, I decided to ditch the stock tail light and just leave the fender stock for the most part. I took a small piece of metal and JB Welded it into place of the stock taillight mounting hole. This may not be the generally accepted method of patching, but its been a method for some to avoid welding. I used JB Weld to also do the majority of the panel filling, but stillhave to do some final touches on the body work to get things perfectly smooth.
Its nothing pretty right now, but you get the general idea...

The lines seem to flow much better to me with this look now;

The other thing that I decided to modify I owe credit to Mud for...if you haven't seen it yet than check out the "How to for under $50" thread and its on page 17-18 I believe.
This looks rough right now but I just got it it fitted right this mornign and mounted up so I could go ride a bit. It was a fairly easy thing to do, and the biggest tip I can give anybody is to make sure you don't cut things too short...better to grind off more metal then to have taken too much at the first cut.

Here it is on the bike now, it seems to give the tank a better look, almost a "fatter" kind of look IMO. I want to get 3 LEDs wired into the area of the panel between the gas filler and fuel gauge for my High Beam, Neutral, and Oil indicators still. In the picture below the rubber trim piece is a bit "floppy" but once I get it painted I will used some weatherstrip adhesive to keep it snug;

Nice work Glider. The machine is shaping up nicely.
That slick tail end is real clean lookin.
Good to hear you are taking advantage of the Under 50, as well.
That shortened console is looking good.
Be sure to post up finished shots.
I smoothed mine down for a slick Vivid Black gloss finish.
On some of the other pieces,
I found a real close match for the wrinkle finish, in a spray can.
Let me know if you want me to look up the brand/part#.
Keep up the good work.

I have been tinkering around the past few weeks on these cold and overcast days here and I have finally got my bike back together to at least take it out on the road a bit.

wow man! i wish i could work metal like that VERY VERY nice!
As long as you are patient and cna make bends in metal, you can do this type of thing yourself and save a butt load of money instead of having a bodyshop do it for you.
