Yes, Mud, that is it exactly (the first one).
What's the fix?
Can't imagine there is no backward compatibility...

sob, when I posted that I hadn't seen that you have 4.6

4.6 is what I upgraded to awhile backfrom 4.5
because of the same compatability issue.

I am not sure what the current version is (guess your dealer can tell you).

Anyway, you should have one of the HDFDynas brothers here

Maybe I better say this in a PM, to avoid potentialissues.

Had the same problem with the SERT file compatibility...Dealer just made me a copy of version "L" software...No Charge. Also...Don't dwell on the numbers...All dyno's are a little bit different and will give differnet results. How the bike rides and feels is more important. It should be smoother after the dyno tune. My buddy just had his motor grenade on the dyno. It does put a bit of stress on the engine and drivetrain. Look carefully at what you signed...Dealer or any tuner probably is not going to take the liability for the engine coming apart.

Long and short...unless it runs worse...I would not mess with it. Your not going to get a huge increase in numbers with basic mods. Dyno tune again after changing cams, injectors or jugs.

johnfxdb -

Thanks for the input. It does run better at crusing speesd, but at startup and low speeds I think it is actually worse. I don't care about the numbers, only smooth running. Even though I have an appointment for a do-ver, I'm still not sure what is the point. If the dude couldn't do it right the first time, how much can I really expect out of his second try? I have obtained the newer version 4.7.7 of the SERT software, is that the same as your version L? I need to get it loaded and check the front and rear cylinders for matching numbers. If they match, I can be fairly certain the tune was NOT done right. I was told before the tune that they did front and rear individually (as opposed to copying values from one directly into the other). I was also told 20 runs on the Dyno, each, approximately. This makes me return to thoughts of how can a 'proper' Dyno tune be performed in the hour and a half it took him? I am very skeptical about the whole thing, including the do-over...

After having expressed my disappointment with the results of my Dyno tune last Friday, the service manager at the local stealer has offered to tweak it. I am somewhat skeptical of doing that, but since I paid them $300, I may as well. I don't understand if it was supposedly done correctly the first time, what can/will be done differently the next time or do I not perceive the process correctly?

How many of you guyz had to take your ride BACK for more adjustments after a Dyno tune?

Also, I informed the service manager that I am unable to open the map they gave me with my SERT software. It turns out, and I find this very STOOPID on the part of H-D, that the LATEST version of the SERT software is incompatible with the PREVIOUS version. As one who works in I.T., I can tell you that is just absurd.

Was everyone else of aware of this or am I the last to know?

This whole Dyno clusterf~ck is becoming more trouble than it is worth...

I did and I have a PCIII.

I just posted about it today: https://www.hdforums.com/m_3055451/tm.htm

I thought that the chart they give shows the last run done on the dyno? It shows the 1st and on mine the 6th as being the last. They need to let the engine cool down after every run I was also told. This would take time. In an hour and half that would be impossible.

Thanks for pointing that out. Just looked at the charts again and the 'after' numbers on the first chart is named 'runfile_13.drf'. I have a second chart with a 'runfile_15.drf', so it appears as though there were 15 runs, correct? As an IT puke, I doubt if its very difficult to manipulate those numbers. I say that because I am still suspicious of the whole thing taking only 1.5 hours. domenicp7 -thanks for the heads up how to better interpret the charts...

HD Sob I hope I am right. Were you able to load your map with version 4.77?

Your v477 will open older sert version maps but not upload them. You need to use the copy/paste function under the edit column to copy the values from each catagory of the old map into the new map and save under a different name. When you do this use the stock canned map that came with the v477 and change the name when you save it so it doesn't overwrite the canned map. I make a folder for "custom maps" where I save all my work to so I still have all the original canned map to work off of. But you can load and inspect your dyno map with the v477. When you try to load an older version map it will give you a message to that effect. This is fairly easy to do and only takes about 20 minutes.

Note: you need to uninstall your older sert version software before you install the v477. Make sure to save any custom maps in another folder or they will be deleted along with the older sert version.

Damn, after reading this I'm glad I have a carb.

The local Indy. by me charges $500 do tune the SERT compared to $300 for the PCIII because it takes almost twice as long to tune. For a carb they charge $65/hour and it generally takes around an hour.

It looks like they ran yours 15 times unless the renamed a run/file or something.
When I had mine on the dyno to tune the carba couple years ago it was run 8 times.

Good luck.
