Anyone have a Bulb/Lamp X-ref? LED's?
I did a forum search before posting this (Newbie is learning!) and got nothin'. My owner's manual lists HD types/numbers for replacement lamps & bulbs. Does anyone have a cross reference for these [surely] Hi-Dollar bulbs to Standard [Cheap-*** Scotsman] bulbs that Schucks/NAPA/Auto-Zone would carry? I lost the running filament in my FR signal; not a big deal, but I wanna replace it sometime soon. What about LED retrofits? Legal/Approved? Do they mess with the Security System's brain? Those who've gone LED; are you pleased with the results?
I just pulled the bulbs from my signals and went to auto zone and got the sylvania high output replacements - can't remember which ones they are now. I tried out an LED replacement bulb and didn't find it bright enough. If I was going that route I'd just oder some mini-bullet LED signals, but then you do need to get a load equalizer so they don't mess with your system.
The turn signal bulbs are a 1157 if they have the brass base and twist into position. Or a 3157 if they have a flat base that just plugs in. If you use any LED, you will need a load equalizer, as the LED's do not draw the same amount of electricity as a incandescent bulb.
This place has some kick-*** stuff. http://usaled.com/page/nizq/LED_Products.html
Plus they have a direct replacement for the turn signal flasher unit that will negate the use of a seperate load equalizer.
Hope this helps.
