Like the frontend on your bike. What tank did you put on it?
Tank is from an '04 FXDLI with an '06 FXDBI console (reused the stock speedo from the riser mount) ... the front end is off of an '02 FLSTF Fat Boy ....

Nah they don't suck. My '05 fit me mechanically and aesthetically and financially the best out of all the bikes I tried out. Was aiming for an '07..
but couldn't be happier with what I got. Under 6k miles for $8k
I have an '03 Wide Glide that I bought three years ago and I have to say it's been the greatest pleasure of my life. I had a Sporty before that but this bike is way more fun. Unfortunately I have to sell it as the wife and I are finally buying a house and I need the equity for closing. The good news is once we get settled in I'll be shopping for another bike, but it means I have to give up my fun for a bit.
I'm in the Tampa Bay area so if anyone is looking I am asking $8k. Custom paint, Thunderheader pipes and 17k miles. I've put it in the paper and Craigs List but no nibbles so far

With all of the problems that seem to be inherent of the new bikes, I think I'll hold on to my 99. Plus I'd hate to think of a ***** new motor, even if it is a 103. Of course it has the 1903 design for the crank bearings again.
...are the newer H-D motorcycles really better..? With all of their attempts to reduce production costs, quality control has been a severe issue since the introduction of the 96".
The troubling thing is that more and more parts on these motorcycles have been switched from their usual sources of Japan and Taiwan, (ex. front ends, ignition systems, rear shocks, machined parts) where high quality control is maintained, to cheap parts factories in China where quality isn't even existent. Look at the high-priced leather jackets...Made in China.. WTF.
I remember talking to a guy at a diner that rode up on an '07 96" 6 spd, he had mentioned that the 5th gear whine was difficult to ignore. When he brought it to the dealership, they said. "well, they just do that"... Ha, no they dont just ****in' do that!
Bean-counting shouldn't take a back seat to engineering. Are we getting back to the AMF days when they were over-producing problematic bikes right off of the assembly line?
I don't think Traveler was saying that they really suck. He has a point that the majority of bikes on this forum are newer. My guess is that most of the people here are also newer Harley, bought a new bike, and found the forum. Most people that bought years ago are probably not aware of the site, or it has gotten old to them.
I, for one, would love to have a carburated scoot over my fuel-injected one, just for the low idle. That to me says Harley. These new bikes idle so high.
To answer your qustion? Its like this my carburated 02 Super Glide
